The transition between the two characters is written flawlessly and it is interesting to see the parallel lives and end goals of each character. In life, we can choose who and what matters most; will it be your pride and glory or your family and love?Wonderfully choreographed battle scenes are interspersed and death and pain happen; which is real, although heartbreaking as you come to think of these characters as your own family. Ben Hale has a terrific way with words and storytelling.

A great series from the first book. Although the main character needs "some" flaws
Great second book in the trilogy. That's not always the case with fantasy adventure, but it grew the story from book one and added additional character details, I was very impressed! This book will also stand on it's own as a great action, adventure, fantasy read another thing that doesn't happen often in trilogies of this genre!
For some reason this book is one of my favorites. I've been following the series and get excited everytime a new book comes out.
Tyton is such a cool character. Calculating, strong, compassionate. You see all forms of his person in the book. The depth of understanding this character and his "family" is truly remarkable.
An interesting sequel to the first book in the series. Plenty of action and adventure. Looking forward to the next one.
An age of great story telling is what this is. Continues on from where the first book left off, skips bits that are not required and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
A consistent reality with no "get out of gaol free cards" used. A great book and looking forward to the third in the series in December.
This book is just as great as the 1st book (Flesh) . Great story ,Great characters, story line !!! There are enough twists in the story that you don't know what is going to happen until it does . These are some great characters. Tough as hell but believable . I have already reviewed the 1st book and suggested that the readers go ahead and but the 3 book set. THEY WILL any way so go ahead and buy them. There is a prequel to this set and I will buy them as well. I predict that this writer will be one of the BIG guys in this type of story line.
I really enjoy Ben Hale work. It's just fun. When I read his books, I'm reminded of David Gemmel, thoughts how much I like them.
This book actually concludes the adventure(at this timeline) and its satifying. Ben knows how to end a book, leaving the reader satisfied, ableilt not emotionless though. His books aren't just about action and long, run on sentences. There's emotion. His characters actually struggle and they don't just try to win. But they strive to grow.
And sometimes there are consequences....
